Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota Motor announced it will open registration to the time of booking early model plug-in hybrid on April 22 last Friday

Consumers in the U.S. to immediately sign up to order vehicles Plug-in Hybrid, the Prius (the Prius PHV), using a new online ordering system, is set starting Friday, in conjunction with Earth Day.

By signing up, consumers will be given first access to the online booking system that allows them to configure their vehicles and track their orders through production, distribution and delivery, when production begins, the end of this year.

Prius PHV can be charged using ordinary household socket and can walk about 21 kilometers by electricity. The plan will be launched in the spring of next year.

Unlike other electric vehicles, such as Leaf Nissan and Ford Focus, the Prius also uses regular gasoline engine combined with electric motors, which will begin operating when the battery runs out.

Toyota offers the first launch in 15 U.S. states - Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington, before the launch across the U.S. in 2013.

Shipping to Japan and Europe are also reported to be scheduled in 2012, although Toyota has not confirmed the exact date.
