2011 Lexus GS 460 Reviews

Lexus’ GS range has promised everything from Italian design to a tantalizing demeanor, but it has never been a major player. To figure out why, we borrowed a shiny new 2011 Lexus GS 460 sedan from one of the automaker’s regional distributors, Gulf States Toyota.Smoother and saver than the second-generation Lexus GS – notable for its Shakespearean “Something wicked this way comes” ad campaign – the S190-platform car retains the two-engine configuration of its predecessor.

As enthusiasts, we jumped at the range-topping Lexus GS 460 with its 342-horsepower 4.6-liter V8. A hybrid – dubbed Lexus GS 450h – was briefly on offer before sluggish sales forced its removal from the North American market.

Equipped with a V8 engine, the GS’ biggest traditional rivals come from Germany – namely the BMW 550i and Mercedes-Benz E550. As the oldest offering in its segment, the Lexus GS 460 doesn’t exactly brim with unexpected touches. An advanced eight-speed automatic also comes standard on the Lexus GS 460, a byproduct of sharing its power train with the mega-buck LS 460.

The current Lexus GS continues the theme introduced more than a decade ago with Lexus’ subtle-but-shapely original GS 300. We wish all Lexus sedans were this stylistically balanced. The 2011 Lexus GS 460 carries over mostly unchanged from the previous year, adding only a brake override system.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2011 Lexus GS 460 is a midsize luxury sport sedan that is offered in a single, well-appointed trim level that includes 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive variable suspension, adaptive automatic xenon headlights, fog lights, a sunroof, power trunk closer, automatic wipers, auto-dimming mirrors, keyless ignition/entry, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power tilt-and-telescoping wood-trimmed steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, 10-way power front seats with driver memory and lumbar adjustment, Safety Connect emergency telemetric, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and a 10-speaker stereo with six-CD changer, satellite radio and USB/iPod interface.

Other options include a rear spoiler, rear parking sensors, a power rear sunshade, a power active stabilizer (enhances control during cornering and limits body roll), adaptive cruise control (includes a pre-collision system) and run-flat tires (all-season or summer).

Power trains and Performance

The 2011 Lexus GS 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 that produces 342 hp and 339 pound-feet of torque. Lexus estimates the GS 460 will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, which is only 0.4-second quicker than the V6-powered GS 350.

Safety

Standard safety features on the 2011 Lexus GS 460 include antilock brakes with brake assist, traction control, stability control, front and rear side-impact airbags, front knee airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. Upholding Lexus' reputation for finely crafted interiors, the 2011 GS 460's cabin surrounds occupants with supple leather, rich wood and aluminum trim. The 2011 Lexus GS 460 delivers an abundance of power to please the majority of drivers, along with a comfortably smooth ride and respectable handling.

The 2011 Lexus GS 460 looks, rides, and even drives like its GS 350 sibling, only the key difference is that it's powered by a 342-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.

There's not much of a difference in feature sets between the GS 460 and GS 350 either, with Bluetooth, power heated and ventilated front seats, and a seven-inch touch screen all included. For more information on the GS 460, see our full review of the 2011 Lexus GS 350.

2013 Lexus GS 350

The 2013 Lexus GS 350 looks menacing with an all-black background with the just grille and running lights illuminated. The debut of the mid-size luxury sedan will be streamed live on Facebook. The fourth generation GS will feature a complete overhaul of the interior and exterior, with added emphasis on Lexus' new front grille and driving dynamics.
The Lexus GS 350 will be redesigned for 2013.Early next year; Lexus is expected to begin selling a completely redesigned version of its GS midsize luxury sport sedan.
For the new 2013 Lexus GS 350, Lexus will offer a base model GS 350, a hybrid model and a high-performance F-Sport package offering larger 19-inch wheels and tires (the base model will wear 18-inch wheels), sportier suspension tuning and larger brakes.

Power will be sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The most noticeable development in the 2013 Lexus GS is underneath its sheet metal. Wider tracks front and rear also should help this new GS be the sportiest midsize Lexus yet.
We've already driven a prototype of the 2013 Lexus GS 350, and it is fun to drive. All models will come standard with a new system called Lexus Drive Mode Select. It's a system similar to BMW's Dynamic Drive Control and Audi Drive Select. The 2013 Lexus GS 350 will be unveiled this summer, with the hybrid model bowing later in the year.

Toyota has released a teaser photo of the redesigned 2013 Lexus GS 350 sedan ahead of the car's official unveiling August 18 at Pebble Beach. The four-passenger rear-drive LF-Gh sedan was built on the same 112.2-inch wheelbase as the 2011 Lexus GS, measuring just 2.5 inches longer, at 192.5 inches overall. In his review, Editor Scott Oldham observed, "Lexus may have finally figured out the sport sedan."

Lexus CT 200h F Sport Performance

CT 200h F Sport Performance and exterior enhancements include a unique suspension, front and rear styling, alloy wheels, and badging. Like all the other F-Sport models, the CT 200h comes painted in Lexus’ unique Flame Blue exterior color.
CT 200h F Sport receives a number of visual and performance enhancements in keeping with Lexus’ F Sport model line-up.

Inside, F Sport model CT 200h will receive optional unique interior trim, F Sport steering wheel, sports pedals, scuff plates, instrument panel and privacy glass.
CT 200h F Sport models will feature Lexus’ unique body performance damper, which has been designed to improve ride and handling.

The value equation has undeniably changed, but what hasn’t changed is that the CT 200h will still make many people in the market for a frugal, premium small car very happy.

When you factor in its level of standard equipment, the $49,900 F Sport model is the best value CT 200h. The Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain in the F Sport is the same as the rest of the CT 200h range. That 100kW maximum power figure puts the CT 200h F Sport on par with a base model Toyota Corolla. A nickel-metal-hydride battery powers the electric motor, and a continuously variable transmission drives the CT’s front wheels.

If it’s a sports hatch you’re after, the CT 200h F Sport will disappoint. The CT 200h F Sport was never designed to be a sports car. Despite the common powertrain, the F Sport is the most engaging model to drive in the CT 200h range. EV mode relies only on the battery and electric motor for propulsion. It tempers your throttle inputs and encourages the electric motor to support the petrol engine whenever possible. The system is equally effective in all modes.
The best thing about being in Sport mode in the F Sport model is the mood change within the cabin. The Prius – at 3.9 litres/100km – is the only petrol-powered vehicle that pips the Lexus for economy in Australia. The other competitors mentioned above are all diesels and still trail the F Sport by a considerable margin: Audi A3 (5.7 litres/100km), Mercedes-Benz B180 (5.6 litres/100km), MINI Countryman SD (4.9 litres/100km). The F Sport’s split-level dashboard/console layout is clean and user-friendly, although there’s a lot of hard, grey plastic for a $50,000 car. Over the base model, the CT 200h F Sport gets smoky 17-inch alloy wheels; sports grille, bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler, scuff plates and sports pedals; front fog lamps; F Sport badging; rear and rear-side privacy glass; and exterior mirrors with memory, self-dimming and auto-retract. Safety is first-rate with eight airbags (dual front, side, curtain and driver and passenger knee) and all the standard electric systems (ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, stability control and traction control), as well as emergency flashing brake lights and LED daytime running lights.

If all you want are two simple things – Prius-like fuel consumption in a package that looks and rides like a traditional hot hatch – the Lexus CT 200h F Sport is the only car in Australia that fits the bill.

Lexus Australia took the wraps off the F Sport version of its upcoming CT200h hybrid hatch at the 2010 Sydney show.

For the F Sport, the car retains the regular CT200h's hybrid drivetrain that is compromised of a 1.8-litre petrol engine, battery pack and electric motor. On the outside, the CT 200h F Sport, uhh, sports a body kit and different alloy wheels.

As part of the CT 200h F Sport upgrade there's an altered instrument panel, sports steering wheel, aluminium pedals and scuff plates.

2011 Lexus RX 450h Reviews

Lexus RX 450h
The 2011 Lexus RX Hybrid blends a luxurious interior and a refined powertrain with excellent fuel economy. Though it’s expensive compared to the gas-only RX, reviewers say it’s an excellent hybrid SUV.

The Lexus RX 450h is like that old Reese’s commercial. With the RX hybrid, Lexus got a hybrid in their luxury and luxury in their hybrid. Go for the RX Hybrid and you’ll get a high-end and high-tech interior, smooth performance, and the satisfaction of saving some gas.
Other luxury brands are introducing hybrid SUVs. If you don’t want a hybrid but do want a Lexus, go for the Lexus RX 350.

The 2011 Lexus RX 450 comes in only one trim in front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. The conventional RX 350 is reviewed separately.

Taking into account the RX's lower price and its refined, light-effort approach to daily driving, the 2011 Lexus RX 450h remains our recommended choice for a luxury hybrid crossover SUV.
The 2011 Lexus RX 450h is a five-passenger midsize luxury SUV available in front- or all-wheel-drive versions. The Premium package adds leather seating, a sunroof, a power tailgate, driver seat memory, a rear-seat armrest and an iPod interface. The Luxury package includes 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, power-retractable outside mirrors, upgraded leather seating, side-view cameras, a wood and leather steering wheel and extendable front seat cushions. Powering the 2011 Lexus RX 450h is a combination of a 3.5-liter gasoline V6 engine and electric motors. The all-wheel-drive version adds a third electric motor to drive the rear wheels.

Standard safety equipment for the 2011 Lexus RX 450h includes antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front and rear seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and dual front knee bags. Optional is the pre-collision system that comes packaged with adaptive cruise control. In Edmunds brake testing, a front-wheel-drive Lexus RX 450h came to a stop from 60 mph in an acceptable 127 feet. In government crash testing, the Lexus RX 450h earned perfect five-star marks for front and rear passenger protection in frontal and side impacts.
The 2011 Lexus RX 450h isn't a model you should pick if you want to show the world you bought a hybrid.

Beneath the hood, the 2011 RX 450h is completely different. Just as with the 'normal' gasoline Lexus RX 350, there's not a lot to get excited about, but there's a lot to make you feel comfortable and secure. Bluetooth, power front seats, and dual-zone climate control are standard, while options include leather seating, a side-view monitor, excellent Mark Levinson audio, a hard-drive navigation system with live traffic info, remote start, and rear entertainment.

Prepare Lexus CT300h

Lexus CT300h
Lexus CT300h
Lexus is considering measures to increase the ranks of the line up of environmentally friendly products with CT300h model. That said, the vehicle uses CT200h platform, a car that has been introduced recently. Only, the engine performance will be improved again.

Lexus Tony Cramb Chief Executive said that the performance will be greater than CT300h CT200h. However, low emissions and fuel consumption more efficient. Reportedly also, this car will incorporate a large gasoline engine combined with an electric motor capable of high.

Development is no other power would give comfort and pleasure while driving. The big power can certainly be a mainstay, especially when overtaking or when a car carrying a full load.

Beyond that, there are other rumors that Lexus will introduce a model F CT whose position is under the IS F.

2011 Lexus GS 450h Reviews

The Lexus GS 450h features impressive fuel economy ratings for the smooth and powerful acceleration it provides. In its fifth model year, the Lexus GS 450h continues to be a favorite fun-to-drive vehicle.

The 2011 Lexus GS 450h is unchanged.
The 2011 Lexus GS 450h isn't your typical hybrid. By comparison, the conventionally powered GS 350 achieves 22 mpg and trails the GS 450h in acceleration. Selecting the hybrid GS 450 will set you back an additional $12,000 over the GS 350 and $3,500 over the GS 460. As a luxury sedan with spirited acceleration, the GS 450h is an admirable choice without a fuel economy penalty.

The 2011 Lexus GS 450h is a midsize, hybrid-powered luxury sport sedan offered in a single well-equipped trim level. Other options include a rear spoiler, run-flat tires, an advanced suspension (requires run-flat tires), adaptive cruise control (includes Pre-Collision system) and a 14-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo.

The 2011 Lexus GS 450h is powered by a combination of a 3.5-liter V6 engine and two high-output electric motors that combine to generate up to 340 hp. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) directs power to the rear wheels. Performance is impressive in either mode, with abundant power reserves that we're more accustomed to experiencing in V8-powered sedans.

Lexus estimates the GS 450h will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, which is quick even for a V8-powered midsize luxury sedan. Its EPA-estimated fuel economy is better than average for a V6-powered midsize luxury sedan at 22 mpg city/25 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined.

Safety
Standard safety features on the 2011 Lexus GS 450h include antilock brakes with brake assist, traction control, stability control, front and rear side-impact airbags, front knee airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. Upholding the reputation Lexus has for finely crafted interiors, the 2011 GS 450h's cabin surrounds occupants with supple leather and rich wood and aluminum trim. The GS reclaims some points for its optional high-resolution touchscreen and easy-to-operate navigation system.

Some trunk space had to be sacrificed for the hybrid battery, with the GS 450h accommodating only 10.6 cubic feet of luggage compared to 15 cubes for the conventionally powered GS models.
Lexus also wrapped this hybrid in a very stylish body package. In a bling moment, the lower chrome molding on the side of the body has a chrome 450h insert on the front fender that is set into a blue background. Alloy wheels round out the package and in an unusual move, the double spoke design has every second spoke chromed while the others are a regular alloy colour. Starting

Once firmly ensconced in the driver’s seat with all adjustments, including, the steering and exterior mirrors, you are ready to commit the settings to the vehicle’s memory. Beside it is a regular speedometer and the instruments are rounded out by a fuel level indicator and an engine temperature gauge. I found the heated and cooled seats took a long time to warm up.

3.3.11

2011 Lexus CT 200h Review

The 2011 Lexus CT 200h borrows the basics from the 2011 Prius, combines a 98-horsepower, 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with a 650-volt (battery peak 36-hp) electric motor system, altogether making 134 horsepower, but mates it with slightly different electronic controls that make the powertrain feel a bit sportier. A Sport mode changes the feel of the steering and allows the system's full 650 volts of assist at partial throttle. Overall, while the CT doesn't drive quite like lux hot hatches like the Audi A3 or Volvo C30, it's hands down the sportiest-handling compact hybrid. Twist it to the left and you enter Eco mode, which has muted throttle responses and limits drive voltage (except under full throttle) to 500 volts. If you're going to Sport, from Eco or Norm, the projected face of the analog Eco gauge at the left of the gauge cluster changes and it becomes a tachometer; and just to remind you, the color projected down onto the gauge cluster changes from blue to red.

The CT is about four inches shorter in wheelbase than the Prius and about five and nearly six inches shorter overall, but somehow Lexus has delivered a surprisingly roomy interior, thanks to a very well thought out seating position. Feature-wise, Lexus has also positioned this one well for the younger set, offering commonly desired tech features like Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, full iPod control, XM Satellite Radio, keyless ignition, and Lexus Safety Connect all standard.

Lexus showed the LF-Ch concept at last fall’s Frankfurt motor show, and now the company is showing the production version, the CT200h. The individual outputs of the electric and gas portions as well as the combined system output remain unspecified, but the presence of the 1.8-liter has us a bit worried. There are four driver-selectable driving modes available in the CT200h: Normal, Eco, EV, and Sport. In Normal mode, the car can operate on battery-only power up to speeds of 28 mph, while EV mode forces the car to rely only on battery power for 1.2-mile stretches. Lexus's computer-mouse-style Remote Touch controller lives on the center console. The CT is 170.1 inches long, 69.5 inches wide, and 56.3 inches tall, and there are 102.4 inches between the axles. For comparison, a Prius is 5.5 inches longer, 0.8 inch narrower, and 2.4 inches taller, while riding on a 3.9-inch-longer wheelbase.
So why haven’t hybrids caught on in Europe? Sure, automakers, (including Lexus and parent company Toyota), have offered hybrids in Europe, but not for Europe.

And so Lexus crafted the CT200h, specifically tailored for European tastes, while exhibiting trademark Lexus quality, luxury and the company’s sophisticated hybrid drive.

To get the most out of the hybrid setup, Lexus has built in four different drive modes that let you customize the driving experience: Sport, Eco, Normal and EV. Switch to Sport mode and not only does the throttle sensitivity pick up, but a more direct steering program is also engaged. With 200 volts of power normally available, Sport mode pumps up to 650 volts, meaning that even slight throttle applications make a big difference. Switching between the modes is simple with a dial on the center stack, rather than the buttons in the Prius - although EV mode is still engaged via a button. And in case you can’t tell what mode you’re in (which would be hard as they are quite defined) the dash lights up blue in EV or ECO mode, while there’s a red glow in Sport mode.
The CT maintains the serene driving experience we’ve come to expect from Lexus over the years, (even being an entry-level model), while delivering a more driver-focus experience than we expected.
With a MacPherson strut front suspension and double-wishbone rear, Lexus actually credits much of a car’s driving dynamics to a rigid chassis and two innovative strut bars – yes, strut bars. As a result, the CT is solid while retaining the trademark Lexus comfort and smoothness.
In most other Toyota/Lexus products you step down on the pedals, whereas in the CT you press against them. Overall, its what you might call, (cliché alert) a very European driving experience.
A Leather Package includes high-grade perforated leather on the seats, a driver’s seat memory and heated front seats – although for some reason Lexus chose to make the heated seat operation a silly push out dial (like the audio controls on a 1990s Pontiac) rather than a more convenient button.

Standard features on all CT200h models include full power items, Smart Access keyless entry and a push-button ignition, LED daytime running lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, iPod hookup and control, Bluetooth, use of eco plastics for dash and trunk areas and the OnStar-like Safety Connect system.

2011 Lexus RX350 Reviews

Did you used to have a Lexus RX350 you loved or a Lexus RX350 you hated? .The 2011 Lexus RX 350 remains a class-leading SUV for its comfortable and luxurious interior, good performance and excellent fuel economy.

Most reviewers agree that the "Lexus RX 350" is one of the most well-rounded luxury midsize SUVs on the market. While option packages on the RX can cost thousands of dollars, the RX has a lower starting price than most of the competition – even with options, it may end up costing less. All in all, reviewers say that the RX is tough to beat.

The Lexus RX 350 comes in front or all-wheel drive. It's also available as a hybrid, the RX 450h, which is reviewed separately.
Few vehicles have done more to establish a genre and define a brand as much as the Lexus RX. The RX's newfound stance is thanks to a 2.2-inch wider track in front and a 2.6-inch stretch in the rear, along with a wheelbase that spans 107.9 inches. The standard "Lexus RX 350" in front-wheel-drive spec packs on almost 500 pounds over its predecessor, while the AWD version deals with an additional 400 pounds of mass. The RX450h doesn't fair much better, with the FWD version motivating an additional 460 pounds and the AWD model carrying an extra 445 pounds. Base models are fitted with halogen headlamps and 18-inch wheels, while HIDs, 19-inch rolling stock and a "sport" package that features revised dampers, stiffer bushings and a recalibrated electronic power steering rack are optional.

The front suspension geometry was tweaked and fitted with a larger front sway bar to improve handling, while the task of slowing the RX's substantial mass is left to two-piston front and rear disc brakes.

On the safety front, Lexus has thrown Campbell's alphabet soup surplus into the new RX, with the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system orchestrating the ABS, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) systems. The RX also features Hill-Start Assist Control to prevent rolling on an incline and works both in Drive and Reverse. The AWD system on the Lexus RX350 uses a viscous coupling locking center differential to doll out either 100% of the power to the front wheels or a 50:50 ratio front to back. The 2010 RX450h is equipped with an Atkinson-cycle 3.5-liter V6 that features lighter electric motors and a compact power-control unit that boosts fuel economy an estimated 8-12% over the RX400h. A 288V DC Ni-MH battery pack is mounted underneath the rear seats and receives power from either two or three motors depending on FWD or AWD configurations, with the RX450h AWD ditching the front-to-rear driveshaft for a rear-mounted electric motor.

Lexus has learned over the past decade not to mess with a proven success, and the 2010 RX350 and RX450h proves the point by crossing the Ts and dotting the Is.

2012 Lexus LFA Reviews

This trend is being followed by its Lexus division by offering the refreshed model of Lexus LFA with in-built luxury features. The newest luxury coupe with sporty looks would be tagged as 2012 Lexus LFA.

The hand crafted sleek design of 2012 Lexus LFA offers stylish look to the two door coupe. The curb weight of vehicle is estimated to be 3500 pounds with the weight distribution of 42 percent towards front and 58 percent towards rear. The refreshed model of "2012 Lexus LFA" has a front located engine. This sequentially automated gearbox is a single clutch unit. This mechanical assembly is adopted by 2012 Lexus LFA to offer enhanced fuel economy as it is the major concern of today’s buyer class. With this mechanical pack the luxury coupe runs to offer better performance with the mileage of 14 mpg in urban streets and the mileage of 20 mpg on highways.

The dashboard would come added with high standard music system, climate control system and premium standard navigation system.

In a Lexus. Lexus claims multiple justifications for the LFA program. The car, it says, casts a halo over the Lexus F line of performance machines. The program started in 2000, and Lexus showed the first concept car at the Detroit auto show in 2005. In the interim, LFA prototypes were spotted testing at the Nordschleife, and further, two race-prepared cars entered the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2008 and 2009. Although the car is extravagantly expensive, Lexus says it will lose money on every one. The last car that incorporated a similar level of technology, performance, and exclusivity was the $650,000 Ferrari Enzo. The LFA is an exotic, two-place, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive coupe. Per Lexus’s scales, the car weighs 3263 pounds—less than a Corvette ZR1.

The rear-mounted, six-speed automated manual transaxle incorporates a Torsen limited-slip differential. Forged aluminum 20-inch BBS wheels sit inside bespoke 265/35 front and 305/30 rear Bridgestone Potenza tires. There are four driving modes: automatic, normal, wet, and sport; the driver can also select manual shift speeds. The car we drove had a mixture of supple leather, carbon fiber, Alcantara, and “satin metal” adorning the cockpit. Lexus will offer seat coverings in 12 shades of leather or 10 alternate hues of Alcantara, with three color choices for the Alcantara headliner. The squared-off steering wheel houses a start button and a switch that controls the instrument-panel display.

Twelve interior colors will also be available, at slightly extra cost, because, as reminded by Lexus University facilitator Paul Williamsen, purple cows cost more than black and white cows.
The wide range of color selections almost ensures well-heeled LFA buyers that they will never see their car’s twin.

Equipped with a single choice of Formula 1-inspired V10 power, the LFA utilizes the Lexus Type 1LRGUE engine. Constructed by sub-contractor Yamaha, the engines will be hand-built and finished with a plaque signed by the engine builder, a de rigueur move for high-end performance cars these days. A carbon-fiber torque tube gets power to the rear transaxle. Gear changes are made using paddle shift levers controlling the LFA’s Automated Sequential Gearbox. High-performance synchronizer rings provide almost instantaneous gear changes. Lexus claims gear-banging as quick as 0.2-seconds with the ASG. Four adjustable driving modes–auto, sport, norm and wet modes are available. Auto is the default mode. Six-piston carbon composite material (CCM) brakes by Brembo slow things down after high speed blasts. BBS Forged wheels, and next generation Bridgestone Potenza supercar tires round out the package. Gravity sucks
The LFA’s steering is controlled by an electric power-assisted rack and pinion system; in the process, Lexus claims, it produces less drag on the system. The hollow carbon fiber steering wheel’s center of rotation is lower as well, as is the center of gravity, so the bottom of the steering wheel has been lopped off. Two-thirds of the Lexus LFA skeleton is constructed using in-house-developed carbon fiber reinforced plastics. The end result is a car as sticky as flypaper.

The Lexus LFA interior makes it clear that this is still a Lexus. Lastly, Lexus Inform will be available when ordering the LFA.
The LFA shows loads of poise under pressure. VDIM, parent company Toyota’s name for its vehicle dynamics control system, sets the car up nicely, and Lexus officials tell us that the LFA is undergoing constant software and hardware revisions in its run up to full production.

The company has stated they will only build 500 units worldwide, at the rate of around 20 cars per month built. Regardless of when each individual LFA is built, it will be designated as 2012 model.
The Lexus LFA is a massively impressive halo car for Lexus, and one the brand absolutely needs if it wants to be considered a maker of high-performance cars. Lexus has developed a strong identity for itself and, as enthusiasts, we applaud the LFA’s new direction for the brand.

2011 Lexus LFA Review

Lexus builds its first-ever supercar with the 2011 Lexus LFA. Known primarily for its highly refined luxury cars, Lexus isn't a car company one would mention in the same breath as Ferrari or Lamborghini. Developed at the famed Nürburgring racetrack in Germany and priced at over 300 large (the latest estimate is $350,000), the Lexus LFA will be constructed chiefly of carbon fiber and weigh a relatively svelte 3,263 pounds.
Equipped with a six-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission, the 2011 Lexus LFA can leap to 60 mph in a claimed 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 202 mph.
Only 500 Lexus LFAs will be produced for worldwide sale, and Lexus will actually lease the cars (with an option to buy) to discourage speculators.
The impossibly anal approach Toyota took when building the Lexus LFA.

First, the engine is located way back in the engine bay and mounts to a 6-speed rear-mounted transaxle through a carbon torque tube. That accounts for the CoG's position front-to-rear, but not vertically. That was achieved by using a world's first counter gear to raise the relative height of the torque tube, allowing the engine to be mounted incredibly low in the car, accounting for the CoG's height.

As a statement of technological ability and performance intent, the "Lexus LFA" firmly establishes Toyota firmly within the upper echelons of sports car manufacturers.

This dramatically different Japanese sports car combines high technology with maximum user-friendliness. The carbon-fiber center tub did save 220 pounds and is four times as rigid as the previous spaceframe design, and it also taught Lexus some valuable lessons with regard to future higher-volume production concepts. To achieve the desired 48/52 percent front/rear weight distribution, the engineers opted for rear-mounted radiators and a transaxle, and they set the front-mounted engine back in the chassis. In the front, the Lexus LFA relies on an aluminum-intensive control-arm suspension and compact springs; low-friction dampers with remote fluid reservoirs; and a tubular antiroll bar. Unlike the race car that we previously sampled [October 2009], the production LFA's cabin is as lavishly equipped and as beautifully executed as any other Lexus. There are only two areas - engine characteristics as well as clutch and gearbox action - where the ultimate Japanese sports car fell somewhat short of our expectations.

Lexus CT 200h first five-door compact car

The new CT 200h is Lexus's first five-door compact car. It's also the fourth model in the current five-car Lexus range – the low-volume super-expensive LFA hypercar excepted – to be powered by full hybrid drive, and the first full hybrid car from any manufacturer in the premium compact segment. Like the Auris Hybrid, the lexus ct 200h owes much to the Prius as its entire powertrain – petrol engine, electric motor, transmission (shift lever knob excepted), battery and re-generative braking systems – has effectively been lifted straight from the Prius. The CT also makes use of the Prius chassis platform, although with a 100mm shorter wheelbase and a multitude of structural and design modifications Lexus justifiably describes the CT 200h's platform as new

What can't be disputed is the lexus ct 200h 0.28 figure Cd, which is about as low as it currently gets, and, along with the hybrid drive system its low-drag aerodynamics, contributes toward the CT's impressive eco credentials.

In electric-only (EV), Eco and Normal driving modes the upper part of the binnacle is gently backlit in Hybrid Blue. Returning to the driving experience, I mentioned at the top of the page that the CT 200h has a distinctly sporting character. On a bumpy road the chassis and body feel exceptionally rigid and well-controlled. The ride is firm but impressively compliant, while the speed-sensitive electric power steering is direct (just 2.7 turns lock-to-lock). Lexus has high hopes riding on the lexus ct 200h.

TOYOTA’S huge success with the Prius hybrid presents Lexus with a prime sales opportunity for the CT 200h.
Lexus statistics reveal 10 percent of people who move out of the Toyota Prius go to a C-segment premium car – a sector where the company has, until now, not had a product offer.
It is these buyers Lexus is targeting with the new CT 200h.
The most expensive Prius currently retails for £23,398.
Communication plans are already being planned; our contact said Lexus may introduce a competitive leasing deal to win attention for the car.
Strong predicted retained values from CAP help here: the firm’s given a preliminary 41 percent RV figure, just behind an Audi A3 on 42 percent.

Lexus dealers are similarly retail-focused.
Lexus just hopes you buy it. The CT 200h is made for Europeans, where small hatchbacks and eco-cred go a lot farther. Total system output is just 134 hp, counting 98 hp from the 1.8-liter gasoline-fueled four and the rest from a pair of electrically powered motor generators.
"I designed it to be fun to drive ."
If you are a Prius pilot looking for more excitement, you'll be happy if not thrilled. The CT 200h uses the same 2ZR-FXE 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT-i four as the Prius. The 201.6 volts from the battery pack are boosted to 500 volts for normal acceleration and 650 volts in sport mode.
Sport mode is one of four modes available. Sport mode changes the response of the vehicle's speed-sensitive electric power steering, traction control and power control unit for what Toyota describes as "excitement." To further that excitement, the CT's body is stiffened with extensive use of high-strength steel and lightened with an aluminum hood, bumper reinforcements and rear door. In place of passive strut-tower braces, the lexus ct 200h has performance dampers connecting the two MacPherson struts in front and the trailing-arm double wishbones in the rear. These stiff dampers reduce vibrations while also stiffening the body structure.
Lexus lists competitors as the Audi A3, the BMW 1-series and the Volvo C30.

2010 Lexus IS F overview

2010 Lexus IS F Full Review

THE 2010 LEXUS IS F FEELS unburstable, rock solid, ferocious.
In manual mode, its rifle-bolt precision and lightning-fast shifts make DSGs feel soft, and manuals a bit last century...
The big news is the move to a compact Torsen Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) from the pre-update model's electronic limited-slip type.
According to Lexus, the adoption of a mechanical LSD improves both road and track performance. The Lexus IS F blends velvety V8 torque with a crisp-shifting eight-speed automatic. Inside, little has changed.
The centre stack gets updated audio switches and a new fascia around the touch-screen and air-conditioning controls.

As with the former model, the updated Lexus IS F includes active cruise control, hands-free phone connectivity, Smart Key automatic locking and unlocking, dual-zone climate control, Lexus Parking Assist and a power-operated moonroof among its extensive features list.
In lieu of a manual transmission, the eight-speed unit in the Lexus IS F offers both Drive and 'Manual' modes - paired with steering-mounted paddle shifters.
Where the original arrangement offered a 'simulated' limited-slip diff effect by adjusting rear brake balance, the Torsen unit redistributes torque without affecting power.
The brake system features Brembo monobloc aluminium calipers. Six-piston calipers up-front acting on 360mm x 30mm ventilated discs, and twin-piston calipers in the rear acting on 345mm by 28mm ventilated discs.
How does it drive?
The eight-speed automatic is a precision instrument. TMR's Tim O'Brien questioned the old IS-F's mid-corner balance, but I found little to complain about with this updated version. Apart from new foldable head restraints for the rear seats, the 2010 IS F's leather-trimmed seating is identical to its predecessor.
The front seats have been designed to offer a compromise between sports-car support for performance driving, and ultimate comfort.
Interior Quality and Feel?
The leather trim of the front and rear-seats is of high quality; soft to the touch and durable.

Based on the regular IS entry-level luxury sport sedan, the "Lexus IS F" is fortified with all the expected "performance division" upgrades, such as a tire-burning V8, bigger brakes, stiffer suspension tuning and stickier tires.
The 2010 Lexus IS-F high-performance luxury sport sedan is available in only one well-appointed trim level. Standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels shod with sticky tires, Brembo brakes, adaptive xenon headlights, a sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, auto-dimming mirrors, 10-way power heated front leather sport seats with memory settings, dual-zone automatic climate control and a 13-speaker audio system with satellite radio, Bluetooth audio, a six-CD changer, iPod integration and an auxiliary audio jack.
EPA fuel economy estimates are 16 mpg city/23 mpg highway and 18 mpg in combined driving.
The 2010 Lexus IS-F comes equipped with antilock brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, front-seat side and knee airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. Optional is a pre-collision system paired with the adaptive radar cruise control that senses an impending collision and automatically adjusts seatbelt tension and braking force.
The IS-F has not been crash-tested, but in government testing, its IS 350 sibling was awarded four stars out of five for driver and front passenger protection in frontal impacts as well as rear side impacts.

the Lexus LFA

The Lexus LFA is an exotic, two-place, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive coupe. Per Lexus’s scales, the car weighs 3263 pounds—less than a Corvette ZR1.

The rear-mounted, six-speed automated manual transaxle incorporates a Torsen limited-slip differential. The Brembo carbon-ceramic brake setup consists of discs 15.4 inches in diameter and six-piston monoblock calipers up front, with 14.2-inch discs and four-piston calipers at the back. Forged aluminum 20-inch BBS wheels sit inside bespoke 265/35 front and 305/30 rear Bridgestone Potenza tires. The car we drove had a mixture of supple leather, carbon fiber, Alcantara, and “satin metal” adorning the cockpit.

In June 2005 the engineering team dumped the LFA's aluminium structure for carbon-fibre, since the 2007 appearance of the LF-A concept, the styling has dramatically changed and its whimsical details slashed away, and Nissan's GT-R has set up a fence round the market niche known as "wraparound-Japanese-supercar-in-white", while McLaren's cheaper MP4-12C carbon-fibre rocket-ship rival arrives in 2011.

Yet Toyota's Lexus division was backed into a corner. It had to produce something or it would lose face and the "Lexus LFA" is part limited-run damage-limitation strategy. Ouch.
Under the skin the Lexus LFA is a pretty simple machine. There's plenty of unobtainium in there, too; titanium con rods and engine valves, Yamaha forged pistons, carbon-fibre cabin tub and body, aluminium-alloy subframes and suspension components and carbon ceramic brakes. The instrument binnacle is a digital display with a central analogue rev counter and digital speedometer that shifts from side to side to reveal ancillary displays for temperatures and the like underneath.

It works, someone's put a lot of love into the Lexus LFA and the cabin is delightful. Economy-sized leather bucket seats accommodate most sizes of adult, but there's scant storage space around the passengers and the tiny boot, accessed via a lifting rear screen, has room for one overnight bag – and no golf clubs.

With everything stacked low and central, the Lexus LFA turns in fast and hard with little tendency to understeer straight on. To 60mph they'd clash wheels, but after that the LFA would leave the GT-R for dead. There's something touchingly naïve about the way Lexus has approached the business of making a supercar. Chief engineer Tanahashi comes over all Swiss Toni about the car. "My taste in women is like my taste in cars," he said. Wow. Designed by unreconstructed chauvinists, scary, weird, wildly expensive and without any discernable practicality or purpose, the Lexus LFA has transcended the Rubicon of super. Looks like job done then, Lexus.

Lexus IS 250 Review

you're shopping for an entry-level luxury sedan with a sporty disposition, you'll undoubtedly come across the compact Lexus IS 250. Although modestly powered for a premium-brand sport sedan, the Lexus IS 250 offers all the other virtues of the current IS series, including precise handling, a top-quality interior and an extensive array of high-tech features.

On the standard rear-wheel-drive sedan, the company gives you a choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. For the general premium car shopper, though, the Lexus IS 250 represents a solid buy, as it offers high levels of luxury and refinement while staying within comfortable range of the $30,000 mark.

Lexus sells the Lexus IS 250 in a single trim level, with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Major options include adaptive bi-xenon HID headlights, heated/ventilated front seats, a surround-sound Mark Levinson audio system with a CD/DVD changer, a navigation system with a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control and Bluetooth. There's also an X package, which is essentially a sport package that provides bigger wheels, high-performance tires, firmer suspension calibrations, aluminum pedals and a front lip spoiler. Inside, the leather-lined Lexus IS 250 feels luxurious even in standard spec -- something that can't be said of many entry-level luxury sedans in this price range. Used Lexus IS 250 Models
Introduced for the 2006 model year, the present-generation Lexus IS 250 represents the second iteration of the Lexus IS series.
the 2010 Lexus IS 250 ranks 9 out of 16 Upscale Midsize Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 60 published reviews and test drives of the Lexus IS 250, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
Lexus produces two midsize luxury cars - the comfort-oriented ES, and this, the more performance-oriented "Lexus IS 250". Available as a sedan and a convertible, it's intended to do battle with sport sedans like the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4. A high-performance F-type, reviewed separately, is also available. The Lexus IS 250 is available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, while the IS 350 comes only in a rear-wheel-drive layout.
The car shows perfection in individual disciplines. Convertible shoppers take note, the IS is available as a hardtop convertible, introduced late in the 2009 model year. The IS Convertible, most will find, is not as performance-oriented as the 3-Series convertible or the G37 drop-top.
The car will be delivered with the driver's side floormat attached to the track of the driver's seat with zip ties. Lexus will contact buyers with a recall notice when a permanent fix is available
