2011 Volvo C70 Overviews

Volvo C70
2011 Volvo C70 ,18-inch wheels and rear park assist are optional.Options include keyless drive, an integrated compass in the rearview mirror, heated front seats and light oak inlays for the interior.

In addition to the required dual front airbags, side-impact and side curtain airbags are standard. Volvo says the curtains are designed to stay deployed in the event of a rollover. Traction control and an electronic stability system are standard.

The 2011 Volvo C70 receives refreshed exterior styling as well as a new instrument panel and upgraded interior materials. Today, it's the rare luxury convertible that doesn't have a retractable hardtop, and this feature is even available on some affordable convertibles. Volvo's drop top is considerably cheaper than the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G37 hardtop convertibles, and the similarly priced Lexus IS 250 C is relatively short on power and interior style.
It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a power-retractable hardtop, front and rear foglights and heated outside mirrors. Standard interior features include leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats (with driver memory), automatic dual-zone climate control, full power accessories, cruise control, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker CD/MP3 audio system with auxiliary audio/USB jacks and satellite and HD radio.

The front-wheel-drive 2011 Volvo C70 is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine rated at 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.
The C70's front seats are superbly supportive, and a button on each backrest slides the seats forward for rear-seat access.

As a four-seat convertible with a standard folding hard top, the 2011 Volvo C70 (Base MSRP: $39,950) is a reasonably priced and versatile alternative to other luxury convertibles. Front passengers are treated to seats that reviewers praise for their comfort and support. ConsumerGuide.com editors find that the Volvo C70 convertible "rides firmly but is comfortable." Standard safety equipment includes stability control, front airbags, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, pop-up rollbars, front headrests that reduce whiplash and antilock brakes with brake force distribution technology. The 2011 Volvo C70 is a comfortable, slightly cheaper option among entry-level luxury convertibles.

2011 Volvo V50

2011 Volvo V50
2011 Volvo V50
Volvo's also dropped the base in-line five-cylinder engine from the Volvo V50 portfolio, leaving behind the desireable 227-horsepower, 2.5-liter turbocharged in-line five-cylinder engine. All versions have power windows, locks, and mirrors--and the usual climate and cruise control, plus a power driver seat.
For more information that applies to the Volvo V50 wagon,

All-wheel drive and a manual transmission are no longer offered.
Last year's base-model Volvo V50 was powered by a 2.4-liter five-cylinder engine but it didn't deliver the premium experience you'd expect from a Volvo. A wagon version of Volvo's S40 sedan, the V50 boasts an impressive 63 cubic feet of cargo space with its rear seats folded, placing it ahead of crossovers like the Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLK and wagons like the Audi A4 Avant.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 Volvo V50 is a five-passenger compact wagon that comes in T5 and T5 R-Design trim levels.

The T5 R-Design adds aluminum roof rails, a sunroof, sporty exterior trim, a sport-tuned suspension, partial leather upholstery, a power passenger seat and special R-Design floor mats, steering wheel, gauges and shift knob.

The Climate package is available with both trims, and includes headlight washers, automatic wipers, automatic climate control and heated front seats. Stand-alone options include a blind-spot warning system, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, integrated rear booster seats, keyless ignition/entry, satellite radio and rear park assist.

All 2011 Volvo V50s are powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 good for 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. Volvo predicts a 0-60 sprint of 6.8 seconds, and estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined.

Safety
The 2011 Volvo V50 comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and whiplash-reducing front head restraints. Optional features include integrated rear booster seats and a blind-spot warning system.

2011 Volvo XC70 Reviews

2011 Volvo XC70
2011 Volvo XC70 Reviews
For the latest generation year, Volvo launched a fully redesigned XC70 wagon.
Four-C, Volvo’s advanced active chassis technology with electronically controlled damper adjustment, is also available. "With an active chassis, the car’s driving properties improve in all situations," says Volvo Cars XC70 Project Director, Tomas Ahlborg. An increase in interior cabin space has resulted in a 1.9-inch increase in rear legroom and a 3/4-inch increase in rear knee clearance.

For 2011, the Volvo XC70 gets more horsepower, an available front-wheel-drive version and a minor shuffling of standard and optional features. Introduced more than a decade ago, the Volvo XC ("Cross Country") is essentially a Volvo V70 wagon with increased ground clearance, all-wheel drive and rugged SUV-like styling cues.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 Volvo XC70 is a five-passenger wagon available in 3.2 FWD and T6 AWD trim levels. The T6 AWD adds the content of the Premium package along with a turbocharged engine, all-wheel drive, 18-inch wheels and upgraded gauges.

Heated rear seats are also included in this package unless the optional integrated booster seats are ordered. The Convenience package includes front and rear parking sensors, a power tailgate, rear privacy glass, power-folding rear headrests, a cargo cover and a trunk grocery bag holder. The Technology package ups the ante with adaptive cruise control, a collision warning system, a distance alert system, driver inattention alert system and a lane-departure warning system. The Multimedia package adds a navigation system, a rearview camera and a 12-speaker Dynaudio surround-sound stereo with rear seat headphone jacks and controls.

Stand-alone options include adaptive xenon headlights, integrated rear booster seats, a blind-spot warning system and keyless ignition/entry.Both front-wheel-drive and optional all-wheel-drive versions of the 2011 Volvo XC70 3.2 come with a 3.2-liter inline-6 that produces 240 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque.Volvo claims the XC70 3.2 AWD will sprint to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds -- about the same as full-size crossover SUVs.

Safety
2011 Volvo XC70 comes standard with antilock disc brakes, hill descent control, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and anti-whiplash front head restraints. Integrated rear booster seats are optional on both models.

Additional available safety features include a blind-spot monitor and Volvo's Personal Car Communicator (offers keyless lock/entry/ignition). The available matte wood and leather trim really dresses up the XC70's otherwise austere cabin. A 40/20/40-split-folding seatback enhances the XC70's versatility, as do the available integrated booster seats. With the seats folded flat, the XC70 can hold 72 cubic feet of cargo.

Driving Impressions
The 2011 Volvo XC70 has a smooth and refined ride befitting its premium status.

With the V70 deleted from the Swedish automaker's lineup, the Volvo XC70 crossover wagon is the mid-size standard bearer, slotted between the smaller Volvo XC60 and the larger Volvo XC90.
Standard goodies on the 2010 V70 include Bluetooth connectivity, fog lamps, heated side mirrors, a power driver's seat, keyless entry, cruise control, and dual-zone climate control. Optional extras include front and rear parking assist, heated front and rear seats, heated wiper nozzles, headlamp cleaners, active bi-xenon headlamps, a dual-screen rear DVD system, adaptive cruise control, and a 650-watt Dynaudio surround-sound system.

2011 Volvo XC60 is a stylish family hauler

2011 Volvo XC60
2011 Volvo XC60 is a stylish family hauler, but it doesn’t sacrifice function for fashion. The XC60 even wins extra points for its comfortable, family-friendly cabin and good performance with its available turbocharged engine. A perfect example is the 2011 Volvo XC60."

The most outstanding one is Volvo’s City Safety system, which can sense impending collisions at slow speeds and stop the XC60 without any driver input. Like the XC60, the Q5 is also a “Top Safety Pick.” The SRX only starts at about $1,500 more than the Volvo XC60 does.

The Volvo XC60 comes in three trims.
Volvo launched an all-new entry-level crossover back in 2009 called the XC60.
We're elevating our design DNA to an entirely new level by literally turning up the visual volume.," said Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin. The base 3.2 trim level and 3.2 R-Design both come standard with front-wheel drive, and have available all-wheel drive. The 3.2-liter naturally aspirated V6 will return 18 city, 25 highway in FWD trim, and 18 city, 24 highway with AWD. The Volvo XC60 comes standard with City Safety, as well as ABS, daytime running lamps, dynamic stability and traction control with anti-skid, an intelligent driver information system and more for safety.

Optional safety features include Xenon headlamps, collision warning with auto brake and adaptive cruise control.

In terms of technology and entertainment features, the XC60 comes standard with power everything, cruise control, electronic and heated mirrors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Bluetooth, HD Radio, iPod interface, Sirius radio and more.

The station wagon is a Volvo staple, yet as of late even Volvo has shown signs of abandoning traditional wagon designs in favor of taller utility vehicles.

Key Takeaway
The 2011 Volvo XC60 offers top in-car tech and luxury features, in a secure package that's big enough for small families.

Sporty T6 models get a turbocharged 3.0-liter in-line six, now making 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet. The XC60's crossover shape provides lots of passenger comfort, and a cargo-friendly setup as well. Up front, the driving position is nice and upright, but there's a little less support from the bottom cushion than Volvo seats normally deliver, and the passenger footwell feels a bit narrow. Overall, the XC60's interior speaks of quality trim and textures, with lots of upscale finishes like available real oak veneer. In addition to all the conventional safety features, and good safety ratings, the XC60 offers a few active-safety tech features you won't find everywhere. City Safety wraps together the sensors used in various other high-tech safety aids in the XC60, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Alert Control, Distance Alert, and the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).

2011 Volvo S60

The S60 is handsome, expressive, and organic all at once from the outside, with smooth contours and swooping lines matched up with a low, wedgy front and pert tail, and framed with large flashy alloy wheels. Inside the S60 has has an ultra-cool floating center stack of controls that pushes the Swedish design ethos into a hipper direction. Textures and design themes inside are far from the ordinary for luxury sedans.

All 2011 Volvo S60 models come in top-of-the-line T6 form—with a 300-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, and a six-speed automatic transmission. On the safety front, Volvo's Pedestrian Detection safety system can automatically stop the car if it detects a pedestrian and the driver fails to react.

Feline headlamps take the place of square ones. The car’s shoulders are defined by a curvy, flowing line that carries over from the concept; it replaces the simple arc of the previous car and brings modernity to the overall look. Expect the design cue to migrate across the entire lineup. Other features of the S60 concept that are candidates to make it to the real car are a second-gen radar cruise-control system, lightweight composite body panels, and a grille shutter than can close to reduce aero drag.

Volvo is promising “dynamic driving properties,” and we hope it delivers. The 2011 S60 will debut at the Geneva auto show next March and begin production at Volvo’s plant in Ghent, Belgium, in early summer.

Naturally, Volvo continues to capitalize on that reputation with the all-new 2011 S60, which integrates more active and passive safety systems than ever before, including a groundbreaking new pedestrian-protection system.

Peter Horbury, Volvo’s former design director who returned to Volvo last year after a stint at parent Ford, led Volvo design in a new direction back in the 1990s with the S80 sedan. Safety comes naturally, even for pedestrians. Volvo’s all-new pedestrian-detection system is part of the $2100 Technology Package, which also includes adaptive cruise control, collision warning with full automatic braking, and warnings for maintaining distance and staying in your lane. But pedestrian detection is the unique offering here. Volvo’s radar- and camera-based system can detect pedestrians in front of the car, warn the driver if anyone walks out into its path – and then automatically activate the S60’s full braking power if the driver fails to respond in time.

Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake can avoid a collision with a pedestrian at speeds up to 22 mph if the driver does not react in time. In a test that Volvo set up for us during our first drive of the S60 in Portugal, we drove at about 15-20 mph toward a stationary dummy, to mimic low-speed driving in a crowded urban area. “Just keep driving steadily toward the dummy,” advised Tomas Andersson, senior manager for active safety electronics at Volvo. Volvo also offers its blind-spot detection system as a $700 stand-alone option. At launch, standard six-cylinder and all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is standard.

2011 Volvo s40 Reviews

2011 Volvo s40 Reviews

While safety-minded family shoppers often consider Volvo's larger sedans and crossover wagons, the S40 compact sedan isn't nearly as popular. The 2011 Volvo S40 is unremarkable from a styling standpoint, though it's even by today's fashion sense a well-sculpted small sport sedan. With the former base S40 2.4i models discontinued, as well as available all-wheel drive, only front-wheel-drive S40 T5 and T5 R-Design remain, both offering the higher-power 2.5-liter turbocharged in-line five-cylinder engine.

The 2011 Volvo S40 is a classy-looking car with a strong reputation for safety. It starts at $27,750, about $2,000 less than the BMW 1-Series.
Volvo redesigned the S40 in 2008. For 2011, Volvo simplified its trim, engine and transmission options; everything else remains the same.

The BMW 1-Series is one of the best drivers in the class. Starting at $29,150, the BMW 1-Series has two engine and transmission options that shoppers can select to fit their driving needs. The Volkswagen GTI is one of the least expensive cars in the class that offers a complete package: high performance, affordability, great fuel economy and a comfy interior. A diesel engine that enhances fuel economy is also available--The "2011 Volvo S40 "is available in two trims: T5 and R-Design.

For the 2011 Volvo S40, the base 2.4i model has been discontinued, as has the all-wheel-drive T5 R-Design. On the positive side, the Volvo S40 certainly looks the part of a European sport sedan. Similarly, the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G Sedan justify their higher costs through added performance and prestige.

The 2011 Volvo S40 Sedan is available in two trim levels: T5 and T5 R-Design--Adding the optional Preferred package will also get you a sunroof, leather upholstery and a power passenger seat.

Both trims are available with the Climate package, which adds heated front seats, headlight washers, automatic wipers and automatic climate control. Stand-alone options include 18-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, satellite radio, keyless ignition/entry, rear parking sensors and a blind-spot detection system paired with power-folding mirrors.

A standard five-speed automatic routes power to the front wheels -- all-wheel drive is no longer available. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway and 24 mpg in combined driving.

Antilock disc brakes, traction control and stability control are standard on all 2011 Volvo S40s. Also included are front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags, along with whiplash-reducing front head restraints. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety testing, the S40 was awarded the best rating of "Good" in the frontal-offset test and the second-best "Acceptable" rating in the side-impact test.

2011 Volvo C30 with antilock disc brakes with brake assist

2011 Volvo C30 Review

The 2011 Volvo C30 isn't your typical "hot hatch." Power comes from Volvo's familiar turbocharged five-cylinder engine, which cranks out a healthy 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.

The "2011 Volvo C30 "is a four-seat, two-door hatchback offered in two trim levels. The base T5 includes 17-inch alloy wheels, height-adjustable seats, a trip computer, cruise control, a 50/50-split-folding rear seat, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker CD audio system with an auxiliary audio jack. The T5 R-Design trim level adds 18-inch wheels, foglights, a sport-tuned suspension, a quicker steering ratio, sporty exterior trim, partial leather upholstery, blue-face gauges and metallic interior trim.

The Climate package includes heated front seats, headlamp washers, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers.
The front-wheel-drive 2011 Volvo C30 is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 that produces 227 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 Volvo C30 comes standard with antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front seats with whiplash protection. Volvo's Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is optional.

The C30 is a fun car to drive. Our test model came with a five-speed automatic transmission, but I've driven a C30 with the available six-speed manual, and that's the model I strongly recommend if you want a sporty driving experience. The transmission has a manual-shift mode, though, so you can shift using the console-mounted gearshift. It has a stiff suspension, so there's basically no body roll, and the car feels planted to the road. As you'd expect from a small car with a stiff suspension, you feel the bumps in the road. Our test model was a T5 with a standard chassis and optional 18-inch wheels. You can also get an R-Design model with standard 18-inch wheels and a stiffer sport suspension, but I'd take that version for a long test drive before buying it; the R-Design might be too stiff to live with in a place with rough roads. Sure, it's more practical than a two-seat roadster, but this isn't a family car — unless everyone in your family is smaller than 5-foot-2, packs light and enjoys snug accommodations. Child Seats

Speaking of families, we installed some child-safety seats to see how they fit. A booster seat fits easily, and the seat belt is well-placed. There's not enough room lengthwise for an infant seat unless the front passenger seat is moved forward, but a rear-facing convertible seat fits without moving the front seat.
The rest of the car looks pretty much the same, and I have to admit, I've always been a fan of the car's design. There are two trim levels of the Volvo C30: T5 and R-Design. Our test model had this appearance package.

I like how the R-Design model looks, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want the stiffer R-Design chassis if I intended to drive the C30 every day around Chicago. See all the standard safety features here. (Our test model topped out at nearly $33,000.)

It's sporty, but not a high-performance sports car. Sometimes you just want a car that's comfortable, performs reasonably well and looks good.

Shoppers seeking a sportier driving experience or value may want to look elsewhere. What might be the C30’s biggest drawback is its price. Style-conscious shoppers will be hard-pressed to find a better-looking alternative to the "Volvo C30". However, a slew of competitors provide more value and driving excitement.

Should more space be needed, MINI offers the Cooper S Clubman.

Although not a luxury hatch, the Mazdaspeed3 offers many luxury options and shares its platform with the C30. It costs nearly $5,000 less than the Volvo and offers more space and doors.
The 2011 Volvo C30 is available in two trims: T5 and R-Design. The R-Design C30 features an R-Design exterior styling kit and unique suspension settings that most reviewers have criticized for ruining the ride quality.

2011 Volvo S80

2011 Volvo S80 Review

New for 2011 the engines receive horsepower increases, the 3.2 liter engine to 240-hp, and the turbocharged 3.0 liter to 300-hp. The front-wheel drive S80 is available with a 240-hp 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine or a 230-hp 3.2-liter PZEV engine. Safety features include ABS, traction control, stability control, and six airbags.

Unlike most luxury large cars, the Volvo S80 seems to be engineered to fly under the radar. Safety and price. The 2011 Volvo S80 is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) “Top Safety Pick,” which means it boasts excellent crash test scores and standard safety features. If you value your budget and your safety above plush interiors and back-road performance, most car reviewers say that the S80 should work for you.

The 2011 Infiniti M is also an IIHS “Top Safety Pick,” which should reassure buyers looking for a safe large luxury car--For 2011, Volvo has updated the S80’s engine lineup.

The exterior design is traditional Volvo. Fuel Economy is fine. This car is 90% Mercedes at 80% of the price. I recommend this car to anyone looking for understated luxury and high quality.

Volvo S60 R-Design

Introducing the all-new S60 R-Design — designed with true sports-car feel and featuring a specially developed chassis to ensure that the driving experience matches the car’s appearance.
With R-Design it becomes even sharper. They’re the natural choice for true connoisseurs,” said Paul Welander, Senior Vice President Product Development at Volvo Cars.

Sporty, sportier, sportiest — in order to keep the superlatives in check Volvo Cars has taken an holistic view of the all-new S60 R-Design, with the design and chassis being developed in parallel into a single cohesive offer.

Distinctive twin exhaust tailpipes and unique five-spoke 18-inch Diamond cut wheels emphasize the sporty overall appeal.
The Volvo S60 saloon has been winning Volvo praise thanks to its good looks, comfort and enjoyable handling. Now Volvo has added its R-Design package to the range, and we’ve tested it.
The chassis has been comprehensively honed to improve the precision of each wheel’s movements--Inside there’s a three-spoke steering wheel, blue instrument dials, sports gear knob and bucket seats with increased side support to further hold occupants in place.

It’s not as involving as the lively rear-wheel drive BMW 3 Series coupe, but on a par with the front or four-wheel drive Audi A5.
Actually it's a more advanced form of an existing Volvo active safety system called City Safety, which automatically stops a Volvo if another vehicle gets in its way.
It's a radar-and camera-based system that can detect pedestrians in front of the car.

In a nutshell, it gives a warning signal if someone walks into its detection field and automatically activates the car's full braking power if the driver fails to respond in time.

Half of all pedestrian accidents occur at speeds below 25 km/h. Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake can avoid a collision with a pedestrian at speeds up to 35 km/h, even if the driver is distracted and does not react in time. At higher speeds, the focus is on warning and reducing the car's speed as much as possible prior to the impact.

The all-wheel-drive technology now includes a torque-vectoring feature, which can increase torque to the outside wheel and help steer the car around a turn with more stability.

SAFETY
In addition to the Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake system, the S60 offers a selection of other advanced active safety features. n Lane Departure Warning is a system that alerts the driver if the vehicle is drifting into another lane. THE DRIVE
We drove like normal and it was almost completely uneventful other than some minor warning light episodes -- people walking in front while stopped (in drive).

Even with its battery of safety systems, the S60 is probably the sportiest Volvo sedan we've driven. Overall it's a nicely balanced car with a first-class engine.

2011 Volvo XC90 Reviews

Volvo's XC90 is the Swedish automaker's first ever SUV offering.
The inline-six cylinder model offers 235 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 236 pound-feet of torque at 3200 rpm. In addition to an immensely strong body structure, the Volvo XC90 has a number of other safety features, including Volvo's WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System), SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) and IC (Inflatable Curtain) airbag. All seven seats are equipped with three-point inertia-reel seat belts, belt pre-tensioners and head restraints.

Volvo also developed various information systems designed to help the driver while on the move. Active bi-xenon headlamps are offered with the Volvo XC90, providing increased visibility on dark, windy roads.

The 2011 Volvo XC90 ranks 9 out of 17 Luxury Midsize SUVs. The Volvo XC90 is an affordable family hauler with great seating and excellent crash test scores. While other SUVs may have nice interiors and better performance, the Volvo XC90 has a very low starting price for the class.

Most reviewers say there are more luxurious interiors in the luxury midsize SUV class, as well as SUVs that drive better than the Volvo XC90 does. It’s an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety “Top Safety Pick,” comes with excellent standard safety features, as well as standard seating for seven and has plenty of cargo space. Reviewers say that it’s one of the best driving SUVs in the class and though its base price is higher than the Volvo XC90, you do get standard all-wheel drive on the MDX.

There are few changes for 2011 on the Volvo XC90. The 2011 Volvo XC90 comes in several trims -- the base 3.2, 3.2 R-Design and V8 AWD. V8 trims are all-wheel drive only.

The Volvo XC90 offers classic Volvo attributes in a midsize SUV. The 311-hp 4.4-liter V8 engine is available with all-wheel drive. Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric New technology

Backed by the Swedish Energy Agency, Volvo will build two fuel cell range extender prototype chassis based on the Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric, to be ready for testing in everyday traffic in 2012.

Battery cost and size means that all-electric cars still have a relatively limited operating range. The firm is working with Powercell Sweden to build a hydrogen range extender with a reformer, which breaks down petrol to create hydrogen gas. This range extender is expected to increase the electric car’s operating range by up to 155 miles, giving a total of around 250 miles.

The Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Cars just announced its next step towards creating a next-generation electric car technology.

This technology is expected to increase the electric car’s operating range by up to 250 kilometers, in addition to the range provided by the car’s battery pack.

In the next phase, Volvo Cars and Powercell plans to produce two test cars based on the current Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric. Battery cost and size means that all-electric cars still have a relatively limited operating range. Fuel cells may be one way of extending the distance these cars can cover before they need to be recharged. What is more, the project gives us increased knowledge about fuel cells and hydrogen gas,”
Volvo Cars has started development of a fuel cell which can act as a range extender for its electric car.

The fuel cell range extension is targeted at "up to 250 km."
The fuel cell will run on petrol, and have a reformer to convert the petrol to hydrogen.

2010 volvo c30 review

The 2010 Volvo C30 is compelling evidence that Ford's stewardship of Volvo has been beneficial to the small Swedish automaker. Ford wisely left the styling to Volvo, yielding a unique-looking two-door hatch that's half S40 sedan, half classic Volvo hatchback and all Swedish chic on the inside.

The 2010 Volvo C30 is a four-seat, two-door hatchback offered in two trim levels. The T5 R-Design trim level adds 18-inch wheels, foglights, a sport-tuned suspension, sporty exterior trim, partial leather upholstery, blue-face gauges and metallic interior trim.

The Climate package includes heated front seats, headlamp washers, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers. The front-wheel-drive 2010 Volvo C30 is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 that produces 227 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque. EPA fuel economy estimates stand at 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined.

The 2010 Volvo C30 comes standard with antilock disc brakes (with brake assist), stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front seats with whiplash protection. Volvo's Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is optional.

The 2010 Volvo C30 possesses plenty of grip and accurate steering. The turbocharged five-cylinder matches up well to either the six-speed manual transmission or the five-speed auto
There, in a nutshell, lies the kernel of truth behind Volvo’s C30 R-Design.

To be a player, Volvo needed something a little different and, viewed from the rear, the C30 certainly nails that design parameter. And while the base model might look somewhat strange, the R-Design model, with its fully-painted body kit and rear wing is surprisingly appealing. Our test model was nicely outfitted with both the $900 Climate Package that includes things like heated seats and electronic climate control, as well as the $1,950 Preferred Package with power front seats, keyless drive, dual xenon headlights, aluminum trim and fog lights.

Definitely try the rear seats before buying one. It comes with the elimination of body length so we’re not faulting Volvo.
The blue-face R-Design gauges are a sporty touch.
Volvo rates the C30 at 6.5 seconds to 60 mph.
Volvo rates the car at an official 19/28 mpg.

Volvo S40 overview

German car companies have long been the dominant players in the compact sport sedan market.

On the stand, the star is really the S60 family that is made all the sauces or almost. So you can obviously see the sedan but also the break which is called V60 and makes its official debut at the Paris Motor Show. Immediately when you read the press kit, we understand that Volvo did not want to design a wagon load but rather an aesthetic model as the Swedish firm said: "Our Sports Wagon is not intended to compete with conventional breaks. For customers seeking a high loading capacity, we have the V70 or XC70. In terms of measurements, the Volvo V60 measuring 4.628 m long is exactly the length as the sedan. Cargo volume is very far from fabulous as the volume is 430 liters or 50 better than the sedan, but in return, you can enjoy an optional electrically-folding bench. For the practical side, it will then board but the aesthetics of the lines is observed and the back is very smooth.
Under the hood, three diesel engines (1.6 D 115 bhp, 2.0 D3 163 hp and 2.4 D5 205 hp) and five petrol engines (1.6 T3 150 hp, 1.6 Q4 180 hp, 203 hp 2.0 T, 2.0 T5 240 hp and 304 hp 3.0 T6)

Volvo S40 is a very good car

Volvo S40 is a very good car

The Volvo S40 is a very good car. Ford-derived diesels may seem humble but the 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre units are nothing to be ashamed of. There's also a 2.4-litre diesel five-pot mated to an automatic gearbox, for real compact saloon muscle.

The S40 is a slightly strange car. the Volvo S60! A simple model line-up offers good equipment levels in all guises; it's hard to fault the S40's standard equipment. We particularly like the sporty-look R-Design variants, with unique and racy trim, plus sportier suspension. Owning
The S40's square, clean-cut lines are unmistakably Volvo, while the interior, with its 'floating' centre console, is very impressive indeed. The layout is simple, instrumentation clear and the soft, well-padded driver's seat is widely adjustable. The Swedish company even offers a low-cost Service Plan

To strengthen this marriage, the manufacturer has created a contest online, called "Lost in Forks," in which participants must drive a XC60 in the streets of the town of Forks, where the whole story of the Twilight saga takes place in attempt to bring the car home as soon as possible Cullen.

Chinese in $1.8bn deal to buy Volvo

INDEPENDENT Chinese car-maker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group has signed a binding deal to buy Ford's Volvo Cars unit for $1.8billion (£1.2bn) as it bids to expand into Europe.
The purchase gives Geely a European luxury car brand with a reputation for safety and quality at a time when China, which last year surpassed the US as the world's largest car market, is eager to improve its competitiveness by acquiring foreign automotive brands that might help it improve its technology and expand into overseas markets.
The price, which includes a $200million note with the remainder to be paid out in cash, is far less than the $6.45bn Ford paid for the Swedish car-maker in 1999.
The US car-maker has been trying to sell Volvo since late 2008 to focus its resources on managing its core Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands.
