2012 Ford Focus Electric reviews

The 2012 Ford Focus Electric is the second mass-market all-electric car. The Ford Focus Electric isn’t the first all-electric small car, nor is it Ford’s first green vehicle, but it’s still important because it represents the automakers’ initiative to produce more eco-friendly cars. The all-electric Nissan Leaf costs almost $33,000 before tax savings, and while Ford hasn’t released pricing information, shoppers should expect the Ford Focus Electric to cost just as much.

Charging with the power cord reportedly extends charging time to about 20 hours. Ford will also offer value charging (in partnership with Microsoft), allowing Ford Focus Electric owners to charge their cars at the cheapest available utility rates, a new version of MyFord Touch specific to electric vehicle customers (with battery charge state, distance to charge point and relevant range equivalents), a MyView feature that includes information on the load of accessories on the powertrain and corresponding impact on range, and is introducing a MyFord Mobile smartphone app to monitor vehicle functions and charge settings.

Ford Focus Electric models for the North American market will be built alongside traditional models at the Wayne, Michigan facility.

We do know that the Focus Electric comes with a lot of tech features that make owning an electric vehicle easier. Going green is attractive, but the Ford Focus Electric isn’t for everyone. If you’re looking at the Ford Focus Electric, there’s only one car that’s a true competitor, and that’s the Nissan Leaf, the first all-electric vehicle that’s relatively affordable. Like the Focus Electric, the Leaf has a 100 mile range in ideal conditions. Right now, owning an electric vehicle isn't ideal for all shoppers.Ford hasn’t released pricing information, but expect the Ford Focus Electric to cost significantly more than the gasoline power Ford Focus, which starts at $16,720 for the sedan.

There's no longer a Focus Coupe, but there are two beautiful body styles—a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback—from which to choose. The Focus's inherent sportiness extends to its interior, which feels, in top Titanium trim (with upgraded sport seats), more like that of a smart European sport-sedan cabin than a low-priced small car. The base seats in the 2012 Ford Focus are quite good, with better support than those of most other affordable small cars. Prices on the Focus range from $16,995, including destination, for the base 2011 Ford Focus S, up to about $27k for a loaded Titanium. At the top of the line, the Titanium earns you MyFord Touch, an upgraded ten-speaker Sony sound system, HD Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio, sport seats, a sport suspension, and sport wheels with summer performance tires.

2012 Ford Explorer Reviews

New 2012 Ford Explorer looks very sporty, and actually promising in the terms of work and performance Ford Explorer is the car that is there from 1990, with intent to replace the smaller car at a time. The safety equipment and features with a few similarity with the previous models, like expected with a lot below the line such as the Ford Explorer 2012. There is not any known improvement designed in 2012 Ford Explorer when compared with previous model.

The 2012 Ford Explorer should remain largely unchanged after its model-year 2011 transformation into a contemporary midsize crossover SUV. The 2012 Explorer will remain a seven-passenger wagon available with front- or all-wheel drive and a choice of a V-6 or Ford’s turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder. Should you wait for the 2012 Ford Explorer or buy the 2011 Ford Explorer? Styling: Don’t expect cosmetic changes to the 2012 Ford Explorer after its total redesign for model year 2011. Size-wise the 2012 Explorer is about mid-pack among three-row midsize SUVs. Traverse beats Explorer for maximum cargo volume with both rear seating rows folded, 116.4 cubic feet to 80.7, though actual passenger volume is much closer.

The 2012 Ford Explorer’s interior treatment is almost certain to be status quo after the 2011 makeover. The standard engine on the 2012 Ford Explorer should again be a 3.5-liter V-6 rated again at an adequately powerful 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. Ford says just 20 percent of Explorer buyers had been ordering the V-8 and it pitches the EcoBoost as the engine for fuel economy-minded buyers. The 2012 Ford Explorer will likely continue with a six-speed automatic as its sole transmission. Absent a traditional four-wheel-drive system with low-range gearing, the 2012 Ford Explorer isn’t intended as a hard-core off-road SUV. Likely to remain standard on every 2012 Explorer is Ford’s AdvanceTrac electronic stability control system with Roll Stability Control to help prevent rollovers in sudden handling maneuvers. The 2012 Ford Explorer Base model will again come with a CD audio system, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, 17-inch aluminum wheels and tires.

Also standard on the "2012 Ford Explorer Limited" and available on the XLT will be the innovative MyFord Touch control and connectivity technology. Noteworthy options on the 2012 Ford Explorer will again include a dual-panel moonroof and a power liftgate. (Estimated base prices in this review include the manufacturer’s destination fee; Ford’s fee for the 2011 Explorer was $805.)

Expect the 2012 Ford Explorer Base version with front-wheel drive to start at around $29,500. Estimated base price for the 2012 Ford Explorer XLT is $32,500. Estimated starting price for the 2012 Explorer Limited is $41,000. To equip a 2012 Ford Explorer with the EcoBoost four-cylinder expect to pay around $1,000 and to forgo AWD.

Final EPA fuel economy ratings for the 2012 Ford Explorer weren’t available in time for this review. Ford’s estimated rating for the 2011 Explorer model with the standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine was 17/25 mpg city/highway and that isn’t expected to change for the 2012 version.

The next full redesign for the Ford Explorer isn’t likely until model-year 2015 or 2016. Ford might also satisfy tightening federal fuel-economy standards by making the four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine, or perhaps even a non-turbo four-cylinder, standard on future Explorers.

It comes in rear-wheel drive or with multiple four-wheel-drive systems, including Jeep’s Selec-Terrain, which is similar to Explorer’s Terrain Management system.

Noticing the ever increasing demand for the exclusively luxurious SUVs, Ford is soon coming up with a new redesign from its engineers – The 2012 Ford Explorer. What’s new for the 2012 Ford Explorer?

2012 Ford Explorer gets a new peppier heart. It is equipped with standard 17 inch steel wheel with the option of 18 inch alloy wheel.

2012 Ford Explorer comes with two kinds of mechanisms. The front wheel drive mechanism is additionally capable of maintaining traction on slippery roads. The uni-body design with front wheel drive mechanism improves the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

2011 Ford Escape Hybrid Compact SUVs Reviews

Ford Escape Hybrid
The 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid blends hauling and load capacity, substantial ground clearance, and truck-like upright styling with a remarkably sophisticated hybrid powertrain that delivers 34 mpg city, 31 mpg highway.

Changes to the 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid are relatively minor. Ford's MyKey system is now standard on all models.

The Ford Escape Hybrid has been around for five years now. The Escape is well equipped with some cool technological features, including Ford's Sync voice-activated multimedia system and an automated parallel-parking feature.

The Ford Escape Hybrid is not without its faults, however. Traditional gasoline-powered models like the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 are better vehicles overall than the Escape and still get decent fuel economy. The 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid is available in two trim levels: base and Limited. Upgrading to the Escape Hybrid Limited adds chrome exterior accents, a sunroof, rear parking assist, a rearview camera with a display located in the rearview mirror, piano-black interior treatments, leather upholstery, heated front seats and mirrors and multicolor ambient lighting.

Options include the sunroof (base model only) and a voice-operated navigation system that includes a hybrid energy flow/fuel-consumption display and a premium seven-speaker audio system that includes digital music storage, Sirius Travel Link and new HD radio capability. The 2011 Escape Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine as well as a battery-powered electric motor; combined they produce 177 horsepower. EPA estimates for fuel economy put the front-wheel-drive Escape Hybrid at the top of the hybrid SUV category with 34 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 32 mpg in combined driving.

The 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid comes standard with antilock brakes (front disc, rear drum), stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags with rollover sensors. Ford's programmable MyKey system allows parents to specify maximum speed limits and stereo volumes for their teenage drivers.

In government crash testing, the 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid scored a perfect five out of five stars for all occupants in both frontal and side impacts. The 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid features an attractive interior dressed up with soft-touch materials.

While some hybrid models have developed a reputation for sluggish performance, the 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid actually doesn't feel that different from its V6-powered cousins.

The 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid has one thing going for it the competition can't match -- it's the only compact hybrid SUV on the market. The Escape gets a combined fuel economy rating of around 30 mpg, which breaks down to 30 city and 27 highway. All safety bells and whistle are up to par, with standard dual-stage front airbags, seat-mounted bags on the side, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control and anti-lock brakes. With a three-year / 36,000 mile basic warranty and a five-year / 60,000 mile powertrain warranty (with options for roadside assistance), most people feel more than secure behind the wheel of a hybrid Escape.

2011 Ford E-350 Super Duty Vans

2011 Ford E-350 Super Duty
The 2011 Ford E-350 Super Duty is the largest and heaviest-rated of full sized Ford Vans. The new 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 (390 horsepower and 735 lb-ft of torque) made Super Duty the first production pickup to surpass that 700 marker. Both engines come with a new six-speed automatic transmission.

Towing owners will appreciate the optional under-box fifth-wheel hitch platform and updated integrated trailer brake controller. The 2011 Ford Super Duty comes in four trim levels, three cab sizes and two box sizes (6.75 feet, 8 feet), virtually all in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The least expensive Super Duty, a regular cab, long box two-wheel drive XL is $28,020 and the most expensive is the F-450 King Ranch Crew Cab long box diesel, about twice that.
The King Ranch ($45,715) for F-250 Crew Cab 2WD) adds two-tone paint including most trim pieces, driver memory package, heated/cooled power front seats, unique forged alloy wheels, rearview camera, and Chaparral-leather for the steering wheel, four captain's chairs and both center consoles.

Safety equipment includes electronic stability control, trailer sway control, and hill-descent control, antilock brakes, SOS post-crash alert, dual front airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, adjustable height outboard belt anchors, child-seat LATCH anchors, three rear seat headrests on Crew Cab and a passenger airbag deactivation switch on regular and SuperCabs.
The doors remain unchanged, the box sides are mildly modified and have a larger fuel door for the diesel models' additional diesel exhaust fluid fill. Wheels range from 17 to 20 inches in diameter, all of aluminum except the base 17-inch steel wheels.

The F-450 model is a crew-cab, long-box-only truck that has bucked trends and downsized slightly. The "Ford Super Duty" is the largest mass-market pickup truck you can get, offered in the widest array of configurations and most of the highest ratings that "pickup truck" bragging wars often revert to.--'Ford' has long been known for their trucks and vans. Ford still makes as solid and reliable a truck or van as anyone in the market.

It has standard 16-inch steel wheels, and a "4-speed automatic transmission". The cargo model has two bucket seats in the front. The E-350 has anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and side front airbags.

The Ford E-350 is a heavy duty, unpretentious van that is reliable and is great for transporting cargo or passengers. The ride is typical Ford van: it’s big and built for heavy duty use, and the suspension and acceleration reflect that. Virtually all of the negative feedback is the result of the "E-350" being a big, heavy duty vehicle. The Ford E-350 is a large van designed to carry large loads. It is solid, has tons of space, and is a great choice for a heavy duty work van. If you want a nice, sporty commuting van, buy a minivan.

Available in regular and extended lengths, the 350 Super Duty van has a maximum gross vehicle weight rating of 9,500 pounds. Single- and dual-rear-wheel trims are available.--The Ford E-350 passenger wagon can seat seven, eight, 11 or 12 people; extended-length vans seat 11, 14 or 15 occupants

2011 Mustang GT 5.0.

2011 Mustang GT 5.0.
2011 Ford Mustang GT.Furthermore, fuel economy is claimed to be as high as 25 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg in the city for the 6-speed automatic, while the 6-speed manual should return 24 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city.

Key elements of the new 5.0-liter mill is Ford’s Ti-VCT cam-torque-actuated variable camshaft timing system and all-aluminum four-valve-per-cylinder engine design, plus specially designed tubular exhaust headers.

Other changes for the 2011 Ford Mustang GT include specially tuned electric power steering, 11.5-inch front and 11.8-inch rear vented disc brakes, and an enhanced suspension featuring an improved rear lower control arm and stiffened rear stabilizer bushings. The obvious test: a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0.

Back in the early 1980s, when my pre-license self lusted after both cars, the Mustang wasn’t as sexy as the Camaro. This driving position detracts from the car’s perceived sportiness, but greatly aids forward visibility and shrinks the car’s perceived size. In the past the Mustang has sometimes had a more usable rear seat than the Camaro. The Ford’s trunk is a little larger, though,

I frankly don’t care which car is quickest in the quarter. As Baruth attested, big buck German V8s have little or nothing on this powerplant. Ford designed the variable intake and valvetrain for a broad powerband. Compared to the Camaro, the rush starts lower and runs higher—there are nearly another 1,000 rpm between the torque peak and the power peak. The Mustang’s lower curb weight—3,605 vs. 3,860 lbs.—contributes.

In a severe challenge to logic, Ford has installed a first-rate variable-everything DOHC V8 into a car with a live rear axle. Ford claims they ditched the independent rear suspension with which the platform was originally endowed (in Lincoln LS form) for cost reasons. But this is a $35,000+ car. Mustang buyers are apparently willing and able to spend $495 for shiny wheels. I drive on Michigan roads. One caveat: I drove a Mustang with the base, 18-inch wheels (and yet also with the optional 3.73 rear end). The standard brakes are sufficient for off-track driving in the flatlands. Even with the live axle, the Mustang does have some clear advantages over the Camaro in the handling department. It’s a slightly smaller car, and between the driving position and this steering feels like a much smaller car. The Mustang doesn’t ride as smoothly as the Camaro, but it’s still far from punishing. If you lean the same way, then you’ll prefer the Mustang over the Camaro. Remember Ginger smiling? Bonus: aside from the rear suspension, the Mustang is also much more refined.

To ensure the Mustang doesn’t lose out in the latest round of the pony car wars, Ford is reportedly readying a new powerplant for the 2011 car.
With the Dodge Challenger R/T kicking out 372 horsepower and the Chevrolet Camaro SS producing upwards of 422 horsepower, the 2010 Mustang GT is a bit underpowered at only 315.
Code-named ‘coyote’, the new 32-valve powerplant will be shared with the 2011 Ford F-150.

2011 Ford Taurus SHO Review

2011 Ford Taurus SHO
2011 Ford Taurus SHO.A small but very vocal contingent of car nuts are inexplicably passionate about “classic” Ford Taurus SHOs.
When Ford decided that it would essentially relegate its Taurus to fleet sales beginning with a 2000 refresh, the Ford Taurus SHO was an early catastrophe. Clamoring SHO nuts begged Ford for a rewrite, which finally arrived as a 2010 promising a new recipe for success.

We finally took Ford up on the opportunity to spend some quality time in a 2011 Ford Taurus SHO, even though we refuse to pronounce “ess-aych-oh” as “show.” Sorry, Blue Oval. The Taurus SHO might seem like just a jazzed up full-size sedan, but it’s much more than that. Fast forward to 2011 and Volvo is no longer part of Ford, but its full-size platform remains under the Blue Oval’s control. Ford first used this architecture in 2005 for its Taurus-replacing Five Hundred, a perennial candidate for the Dullest Car Ever Built award. Then-new CEO Alan Mulally dictated a name change after discovering that Ford let the Taurus nameplate expire and, eventually, he called for a redesign. Bowing for 2010, the latest Taurus follows in a long line of large Ford family sedans that once totally dominated the automotive landscape in America.

This latest car reprises the somewhat historic Ford Taurus SHO nameplate, but instead of the naturally aspirated V6 and V8 front-wheel-drive models that preceded it, the new car boasts a twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 and all-wheel-drive. Undoubtedly, the Taurus SHO is loaded with solid tech for the money. It boasts Ford’s still-advanced second-generation infotainment system with Sirius Travel Link updates, a high-power Sony audio system and, if you tick all the right boxes, heated, ventilated and massaging seats covered in leather and synthetic suede.
The Ford Taurus SHO has little to differentiate itself from lesser Taurus models – a good thing if staying covert is your goal.

Ford aimed to make the Taurus SHO feel like a personal luxury vehicle geared at satisfying the most demanding and hedonistic needs. Let’s start with the Taurus’ seats. Ford can do great interiors at this price point – check out the Ford Flex platform mate, for one.

We positively love this 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. Ford’s engineers carefully tuned the intake and exhaust to deliver a mild and refined growl that perfectly suits the vehicle’s mission.
The SHO’s neutral all-wheel-drive system seemed best tuned for outright grip, with each wheel eagerly scrabbling for traction when driven aggressively. Combine the SHO’s so-so steering with substantial body lean and we felt compelled to drive at no more than 7/10ths, where the big sedan seemed happiest.

The quiet, refined ride and extensive sound deadening made the Ford Taurus SHO one of the most silent vehicles we have ever tested.
The Ford Taurus has been redesigned. When Ford redesigned the Taurus in 2010, it added some much-needed life (and competition) to the Affordable Large Car class. Before the Taurus’s update, buyers looking for a comfortable large car with decent performance had only one option: the Toyota Avalon. With the updated Taurus, buyers now have two very good options when shopping large cars.

Car reviewers have a lot of good things to say about the Taurus.
Other Cars to Consider
Most car reviewers say that the Ford Taurus is an excellent large car, but they say the same things about the Toyota Avalon.

Ford Taurus: The Details
The 2011 Taurus is available in SE, more upscale SEL, near-luxury Limited and high-performance Ford Taurus SHO trims. The Ford Taurus SHO is reviewed separately.
After experiencing the performance and the brilliance of the 2011 Ford Taurus SHO, the only thing one might find a bit odd is that the car is called "Taurus". Fortunately, Ford is a company with considerable institutional memory, so when they brought the Taurus back—this time as Ford's top sean—they resurrected the Ford Taurus SHO iteration of the car as well.

More than just a terrific performer though, our test Ford Taurus SHO came loaded with the latest high-tech safety features. The blind spot indication system illuminates indicators on the appropriate side mirror when another car is in a blind spot. Put the Taurus in reverse, the rear window shade retracts (if deployed) and the car's touchscreen displays video from a camera on the trunk.

The Taurus has easily paired Bluetooth capability for hands-free calling with Microsoft's SYNC telematics system. The car's 12-speaker Sony audio system features iPod connectivity, a CD/DVD player and a hard drive for storing music.

2011 Ford Expedition EL Review

2011 Ford Expedition EL
Among the models specifically identified as Ford Expedition EL models, the EL XL level is the lowest; it starts at $39,355. The EL XL comes with four wheel drive, stability control, side and curtain air bags, and an mp3 player.

Beyond the EL XL trim level lies the EL XLT level, which starts at $41,150. Finally, at the top level is the El King Ranch, which is the most luxurious version of the Ford Expedition you can buy without further customization.

The Ford Expedition is a full-size sport-utility vehicle. Ford's 5.4-liter V8 powers all modLinkels.
There are few changes for 2011 Expedition models. Expedition was last redesigned for the 2007 model year.

The Ford Expedition comes in two lengths, the standard model with a 119-inch wheelbase, and the Expedition EL with its 131-inch wheelbase. All Expedition models include AdvanceTrac electronic stability control system with Roll Stability Control (RSC), including standard Trailer Sway Control that detects trailer sway motion and takes corrective measures to bring both the vehicle and the trailer under control.

The Expedition XLT ($38,200) and XLT 4WD ($41,100), Expedition EL XLT ($40,910) and EL XLT 4WD ($43,810) add reverse-sensing system, SYNC, Premium sound system, power-adjustable pedals, universal garage door opener, and a large selection of other trim and convenience features. Limited Decor Group 301A ($4,590) features navigation system, rear-seat entertainment, moonroof, and power running boards.

Expedition King Ranch ($46,140) and King Ranch 4WD ($49,040), King Ranch EL ($48,790) and King Ranch EL 4WD ($51,690) feature Chaparral leather upholstery, King Ranch badging, and gold exterior accents. The Expedition rides on a wheelbase of 119.0 inches, while the EL models stretch that to 131.0 inches. The Expedition and the Expedition EL are big vehicles, measuring more than 17 feet from nose to tail. The Expedition comes with running boards as standard equipment. The Ford Expedition features a rich blend of finishes, textures and color. The second seating row reflects Ford's thoughtful approach to passenger comfort: The standard 40/20/40 bench seat incorporates a center section that slides, bringing a child seat within easier reach of front-seat passengers. The Expedition's second- and third-row bench-type seats fold flat into the cargo floor, affording a long cargo area that can be easily loaded. The Expedition is also available with an optional power-folding third-row seat and electronically powered liftgate to make it even easier to load cargo. The Expedition is about more than convenience.

Driving Impression
The Expedition makes an excellent tow vehicle. With the optional towing package, the standard 4WD Expedition is rated at 8,900 pounds, the 2WD at 9,200 pounds, the 2WD EL at 8,900 pounds, and the 4WD EL at 8,700 pounds. Among full-size sport-utilities, the Ford Expedition stands apart with its superior driving comfort and utility package.

Ford Ka 2011 review

Ford Ka 2011
Ford Ka 2011 review.Specify the Bluetooth-enabled Connectivity Kit, and the Ford Ka comes equipped with Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, a USB port to play music files through the sound system and steering wheel controls. The Ford Ka also offers heated windscreen and heated seats, invaluable for safe and comfortable driving in cold winter conditions.

The all new Ford Ka stands out in small cars category. Ford Ka is not the newest small cars in the market, but it has so much to offer. Our review is based on our own analysis, test drive and features offered by Ford Ka. Ford Ka is cheap to buy and its unique styling makes the most buyers interested. Ka is for buyers looking for cheap small car for family and individual needs.
It is fun to drive car with good funky and friendly design.

Ford Ka is available in three different models Ka Studio, Ka Edge, Ka Zetec, Ka Titanium, Ka Tattoo, Ka Grand Prix, Ka Digital and Ka Tattoo Premium. Ka Edge has all the same features of Ka Studio, but it includes extra smart features with extra payment of just £1,000.
With the choice of refined engines, Ford Ka has so much to offer. Considering other small cars, Ka is adventurous and more focused on performance. Ford Ka offers excellent driving dynamics and manoeuvrability. Interior & Exterior

The interior has bold design, expressive colours and imaginative interior details. For 2011, Ford Ka has received many interior changes with modern pearl with white centres. Ford Ka has unique attention grabbing exterior. Ford Ka comes with many colour choices with bold metallic finishes. You will get all the features of a high end car within the price of a small car. Safety & Reliability

It also features the Ford well-known Intelligent Protection System. Ford Ka is a reliable car to drive with an unlimited miles warranty or 1 year. Ford Ka is a perfect small car for everyone looking forward to buying a small car.
The Chevrolet Spark is on the way, and we think a Ford minicar is too. Though not official yet, the just-redesigned Ka may be headed to America with its own high-fashion blend of low price, high fuel economy, and city-friendly driving fun.
What We Know About the 2011 Ford Ka
Ka's appeal stemmed mainly from its sharp handling, city-friendly size, miserly fuel thirst, and kicky, fun-to-drive nature. The redesigned Ka unveiled in 2008 was supposed to be another "Fiesta Lite," as well as a kissin' cousin to a redesigned Mazda 2 at Ford's Japanese affiliate. As a result, the redesigned Ka is a distant relative of the Italian company's perky retro-style 500 minicar.
What's interesting is that the Fiat connection also improves the odds for a U.S.-market 2011 Ford Ka. Although the new Ka differs in many respects from the lilliputian Latin, we suspect Ford and Fiat-Chrysler could forge some sort of joint production deal down the road.
